Meet The Partners
Isabelle Hurtubise
Isabelle immigrated to the United States from Montreal, Canada, with her German mother and Canadian father. She grew up in a household full of diverse languages and cultures and has always loved the blend of different human perspectives on the world. She lived in Montreal, London, New York, Boston and Tampa before settling in her true home, San Francisco, in 2002.
Isabelle graduated from Harvard University in 1995 with honors and New York University School of Law in 2002.
Her professional life has been as diverse as her heritage. Before law school, she worked as a management consultant to financial services firms including American Express and Chase Bank. As an attorney she worked for a major international law firm, Morgan Lewis and Bockius LLP (formerly Bingham McCutchen), and at several public interest organizations. Throughout this decade she maintained her interest and involvement in immigration law, having herself lived the experience.
Isabelle brings diverse skills, a multicultural perspective and her insatiable curiosity to immigration cases. She believes that immigrants and foreign visitors enrich this country and uses her energy and skills to bring them together.

Nicole Abramowitz Weber
Nicole's roots grew in Poland, France, England, Norway, Ireland, and Romania. Her family is currently scattered across the United States. Nicole grew up in the Midwest and moved to California in 2008.
Nicole graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2008, where she attended on a full scholarship. After law school Nicole represented clients in court, including immigrants, as an attorney for children. Since 2011, Nicole has been practicing exclusively in the area of immigration law.
Nicole is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), which was established in 1946 to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members. Nicole works to further these goals as a leader and Immediate Past Chair in the AILA Santa Clara Valley Chapter.
Nicole is committed to her community. She volunteers at pro bono legal clinics, serves as a mentor through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and represents children in their immigration matters on a pro bono basis.
Nicole brings her persistence and focus to every client and every case. She believes true advocacy is rooted in the details.

Meet The Team
Paola Escobar, Case Manager
Paola Escobar was born and raised in San Francisco, California, with deep roots in Nicaragua. She brings more than five years of humanitarian and family-based immigration experience.
Paola is deeply passionate about helping others navigate their immigration journey. As a child of immigrant parents she understands the challenges that many people face, and her personal connection to this journey drives her commitment to supporting clients every step of the way. Paola vividly remembers the joy and excitement her mother felt when she received her green card and later her U.S. citizenship. Living those moments of relief and happiness and understanding how they changed her family’s trajectory inspire her to help others achieve that same sense of security and peace of mind. Being able to assist clients in permanently uniting with their loved ones across the globe has been an incredibly rewarding experience that Paola values every day.
Paola is fluent in Spanish and English.
Venesa Ruiz, Attorney
Venesa Ruiz has been working in the field of immigration law since 2019 and has practiced as a licensed attorney since 2021. She has extensive experience in both employment-based and family immigration, assisting clients with immigrant and nonimmigrant processes across a wide range of visa types.
Prior to joining Hurtubise Weber Law, Venesa practiced at boutique and medium-sized law firms, representing corporate and individual clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to smaller start-up organizations. She also gained valuable insight working on the in-house immigration team at a major tech company (FAANG). As a first-generation American, Venesa has a deep passion for immigration law and is committed to advocating for her clients with integrity and dedication.
Venesa earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and later pursued her law degree at South Texas College of Law Houston. Outside of the office, Venesa enjoys reading, spending time with her husband, going on solo movie theater trips, walking along the lakefront, farmers market flowers, and caring for her three dogs.
She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the State Bar of New Jersey.

Ellen Mazuijan, Case Manager
Ellen has over 10 years of immigration experience focusing on small- to medium-sized businesses. Her expertise includes nonimmigrant visas such as the H-1b, TN, L, O and E visas and employment-based green cards. She has been based in California, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida. As an International Student Advisor DSO/ARO at New York University, she specialized in STEM OPT matters and student programs.
Ellen’s passion for immigration is rooted in a lifelong appreciation for cultural exchange—having studied abroad in Spain and grown up in a household that welcomed two German exchange students. Since then, she has remained inspired by foreign professionals and students and enjoys helping them navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system.
Ellen earned a master’s degree in international studies and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She also holds a teacher's certification in Spanish from the state of New Jersey.
Ellen enjoys going to markets and festivals, exploring new cities and cuisines with her spouse, international travel, reading, podcasts, Instagram, stretch yoga, drinking tea, and tending to her cat and numerous house plants.
Rajita Mandavilli, Case Manager
With over 20 years of experience in the field of immigration, Rajita has dedicated her career to helping individuals, families, and businesses through the legal process with clarity, efficiency, and compassion. A first-generation immigrant herself, Rajita deeply understands the challenges and complexities involved in navigating the US immigration system. She knows personally how overwhelming the paperwork, legal jargon, and waiting periods can be. This perspective fuels Rajita’s passion for providing personalized support, ensuring clients feel empowered and keeping clients informed every step of the way. Whether assisting corporations in securing work visas for skilled employees or helping families reunite, Rajita approaches each case with a commitment to success.
Rajita is multilingual, fluent in English, Hindi and Telugu.
Rajita holds a master’s degree in public personnel management and a bachelor’s degree in business management from India. She is also an IATA/UFTAA Certified International Travel Consultant. In her free time, Rajita indulges in all things creative, reads mystery novels and travels with her wonderful family.
